Hire A Saluki
Appointments
- Call the Career Development Center front desk 618-453-2391 or go through HIRE A SALUKI to schedule an appointment with an Advisor.
- Keep ALL appointments with Career Development Advisors. If you must cancel an appointment, please notify the Career Development Center in advance (24 hrs) of any emergency that requires you to cancel your commitment.
- ALL “no-shows” require a letter of apology to the Career Development advisor. You will be unable to re-schedule an advising appointment until you bring a printed copy of your apology letter to the Career Development Center.
- The letter of apology should be written with a minimum of 100 words (includes the name, title, office, of the advisor, etc.). If you are a “no‐show” two times during the semester you will lose your Career Development appointment privileges for the remainder of the semester/term.
- If you are late to an appointment, the Career Development Advisor will not be able to give you any extra time to make up for your late arrival. All appointments are up to 50 minutes, so if you arrive 10 minutes late you will have 40 minutes with the Advisor.
Mock Interviews
Keep ALL Mock Interview appointments with Career Development advisors or volunteer interviewers. If you must cancel an appointment, please notify the Career Development Center in advance (24 hrs) of any emergency that requires you to cancel your commitment.
- ALL late cancellations or “no-shows” require a letter of apology to the Career Development advisor or volunteer interviewer. You will be unable to re-schedule a Mock Interview until you bring a printed copy of your apology letter to the Career Development Center.
- The letter of apology should be written with a minimum of 100 words (includes the name, title, office/employer of the advisor/interviewer, etc.). Job/Internship Interviews
- Sign up for campus interviews with employers in which I have a sincere interest and prepare for each appointment to professionally represent myself and SIU Carbondale.
- Keep ALL interview appointments with employer recruiters. If you must cancel an appointment, please notify the Career Development Center in advance (24 hrs) of any emergency that requires you to cancel your commitment.
- ALL late cancellations or “no-shows” require a letter of apology to the employer recruiter. You will be unable to re-schedule an interview until you bring a printed copy of your apology letter to the Career Development Center.
- The letter of apology should be written with a minimum of 100 words (includes the name, title, office/employer of the advisor/interviewer, etc.). If you are a “no‐show” two times during the semester you will lose your Career Development Center Interview privileges for the remainder of the semester/term.
- Honor my acceptance of a job or internship offer. Once I accept an offer, I will withdraw from consideration for other opportunities, discontinue my job or internship search, and notify the Career Development Center that my resumes should no longer be referred to employers. I understand that it is unprofessional to accept a job or internship and then renege (turn down the offer). I will advise the Career Development Center director of any extenuating circumstances that may cause me to reevaluate my job/internship acceptance before notifying the employer.
Agreement
I agree to accept the consequences of losing Career Development Center privileges if I do not comply with these principles of ethical conduct. I understand that some violations could result in a report to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
The SIU Carbondale Career Development Center encourages you to notify the director if you perceive any breaches of ethical conduct on the part of employers. We appreciate your joining us in committing to the highest standards of ethical and professional behavior relating to the job or internship search process.
